Sorority Rush is a behind-the-scenes look at one sorority as it prepares for andparticipates in Rush. Rush is the most significant recruiting event for a sorority held for one week every August just before the school term begins.
Rush week consists of five distinct parties: Open House; Philanthropy Day; Skit Night, Pref Night and Bid Day. Active members of the sorority must evaluate the potential new members as they enter the sorority house for the first time during Open House and determine if specific PNM’s would make a positive addition to the chapter. After each party votes are cast and fewer and fewer girls are invited back to the house. Pref Night, the last night of Rush, is reserved for the sorority's top selections and concludes with a leis ceremony.
Sorority Rush examines ideas of femininity, conformity and consumerism as well as the desire of young women everywhere to be accepted by such an organization.
